Have you ever wanted to experience helming a powerboat yourself? We are agents for Humber Rescue who provide powerboat ‘taster’ sessions as well as RYA Powerboat Level 1, Level 2, Intermediate, Advanced and Tender Operator courses from their base under the iconic Humber Bridge.
Powerboat ‘Taster’ Sessions (£50 inc. VAT) last 30 minutes, and you will be at the controls for almost all of the time, under the supervision of a qualified RYA Powerboat instructor.
Minimum age: 8 years. (N.B. this only applies to participants, younger passengers can be accommodated).
Prerequisites: none.
Powerboat Level 1 courses (£175 inc. VAT) are 1 day in duration, and are aimed primarily at people who would like to be able to assist more experienced powerboaters.
Minimum age: 8 years.
Prerequisites: none.
Powerboat Level 2 courses (£290 inc. VAT) are 2 days in duration, and cover all aspects of handling and operating a small powerboat safely. As well as boat handling you will cover navigation/chartwork, rules of the road, buoyage and beaconage, weather and tides etc.
We can also conduct ‘Own boat’ RYA level 2 courses, if you’d rather learn onboard your own vessel in your home waters. This is available from £200 inc. VAT per person. Please contact us to discuss your requirements.

COMING SOON! – Powerboat Intermediate courses (£TBC inc. VAT) are 2 days in duration and build on your existing powerboat handling skills to enable you to conduct coastal sea passages during daylight hours. The emphasis is on safe navigation and passage making, but boat handling in more challenging conditions is also covered.
Minimum age: 16 years.
Prerequisites: Competent to the level of PB level 2. Navigation knowledge equivalent to Day Skipper (Shorebased). VHF radio SRC and First Aid are strongly recommended.
COMING SOON! – Powerboat Advanced courses (£TBC inc. VAT) are 2 days in duration, with a night time exercise on the evening of the first day. This course covers boat handling, seamanship, coastal navigation and passage making in both day and night conditions.
Minimum age: 17 years.
Prerequisites: Competent to the level of Intermediate PB. Navigation knowledge equivalent to Coastal Skipper/Yachtmaster Shorebased. VHF radio SRC and First Aid are strongly recommended.
COMING SOON! – Tender Operator courses (£TBC) are 2 days in duration, with a night time exercise on the evening of the first day. They are aimed at those who want to operate tender craft to ferry passengers and supplies to and from a mother ship in both day and night conditions.
Minimum age: 17 years.
Prerequisites: Competent to the level of PB level 2. VHF radio SRC and First Aid are recommended.
